The Resident Return visa (subclasses 155 and 157) is a permanent visa for current or former Australian permanent residents or former Australian citizens. You need this visa if the travel validity period of your permanent visa has expired or is about to expire. It allows you to travel overseas and return to Australia as a permanent resident.
